Ada Allene Varnell Johnson died Sunday, July 23, 2000, in a local health care facility.

She was 80. Mrs. Johnson was a resident of Ooltewah for most of her life and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Ooltewah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Johnson, and a grandson.

Survivors include two sons, Spencer Johnson, Apison, Tenn., and Eugene Johnson, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two daughters, Sylvia Powell, Rock Spring, Ga., and Wilma Young, Ooltewah; two brothers, Kenneth Varnell, Ooltewah, and Paul Varnell, Lookout Mountain, Ga.; two sisters, Irene Jones, Ooltewah, and LeVerne Neal, Trenton, Ga.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. H.M. James officiating.

Burial will be in Varnell Cemetery, Ooltewah.
