Edna Lou Smith, 78, of Soddy-Daisy, TN passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at her home. She was retired from TVA after many years of service. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Smith, Sr., daughter, Jennifer Smith and twin sons, Larry and Barry Smith, parents, Barney and Julia Burnett and sister, Jenny Sisson.
She was a member of Mowbray Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her son, James (Lisa) Smith, daughters, Julia Smith Johnson, Laura Smith Daughtrey, Ramona (James) Frady and Michelle Smith Cary, brothers, Griffin, Eugene and B. J. Burnett, sisters, Caroline Etheridge and Ann Pulley, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Special thanks to Dr. Heitholt and Staff and Chelsie Fulbright and the wonderful Staff of the Dayton Office of Hospice of Chattanooga. Private Graveside services will be held in the Grant-Varner Cemetery. James "J.O." Smith, 81, of Mowbray Mountain passed away on Friday, August 17. 2018.
Mr. Smith retired from Combustion Engineering after thirty years of service and was much-loved for the five years he was an associate at the Soddy-Daisy Walmart. He was a faithful member of Mowbray Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Luther J. and Annabelle McGee Smith; three children in infancy, Larry Jon, Barry Don and Jennifer Sue Smith; two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Edna L. Burnett Smith; sons, James O. Smith, Jr.; daughters, Julia Smith Johnson, Laura Smith Daughtrey, Michelle Smith Carey, all of Soddy-Daisy and Ramona Smith Frady, of Evensville; brother, Kenneth Smith of Glendora, CA; sister, Betty McGill of Soddy-Daisy; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Art Hampson and Rev. Jim Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in Varner Cemetery on Mowbray Mountain. The family will receive friends from 3-8 PM on Saturday and one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday at the funeral home.
