Thomas obituary:

Thomas Garnett Lewis, 94, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Garnett was born and raised in Sequatchie County. He attended Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Garnett was a veteran of World War II. He was very proud of his service with the U.S. Army Air Corps serving from December 2, 1943 to March 1946. He viewed Japan immediately after dropping the bomb and was stationed in Saipan and Guam. Garnett was awarded five battle stars; Iwo Jima, Saipan, Guam, Okinawa and Japan. He was also awarded the presidential citation, marksmanship and good conduct medals. After World War II he worked with Cavalier Corporation as a lumber buyer from the late 1940s into the 1960s. He was a locksmith for years and worked for Charlie Rogers Ford in Dayton. Garnett was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Emma; parents, Pete and Mae Lewis; four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors are his son, Tommy (Pam) of Hixson; daughter, Susie (Wayne) of Nolensville, TN; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Courtney) of Winters, CA and Brandon (Emily) of Kanmandu, Nepal and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Perry Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Chancey Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church Food Bank Program.

Mary Emma Lewis, 89, of Hixson, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at her home.

Born in Soddy she was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County. Mary was of the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in by her parents Rev. Bruce and Laura Redden; sister, Nellie Redden; and brother, Ralph Redden.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Garnett Lewis; son, Tommy (Pam) Lewis of Hixson; daughter, Laura (Wayne) Warren, Nolensville, Tn.; sister Dorothy Patterson of Dunlap; grandchildren Jeffrey (Courtney) Warren of Franklin, Tn. and 2nd Lt. Brandon Warren of Nashville; niece Dorothy Redden of Chattanooga; and nephew Leland Redden.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Chancey Cemetery with Rev. Jim Patterson and Rev. Aline Summerland officiating. Pallbearers will be Charlie Rogers, Granville Lewis, Larry Lewis, David Luttrell, John Swafford and Wade Hatfield. Visitation is Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
