Roland Lee Green Sr., 87, of Bakewell, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at his home.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Lassen in the South Pacific. He worked as a concrete finisher most of his life and was very proud of his work. He also had a passion for music, particularly the guitar. He loved to play his guitar, and play music with his friend, Bill Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Laura Barnes Green; brother, Myrle Green; and a son, Richard Vernon Green.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Peggy Green; a son, Roland L. Green Jr. and his wife, Cindy Green; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Green Ritchey and her husband, Mike Ritchey; three grandchildren, Joe, Brad and Greg Green, all of Bakewell; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel with Minister Gary Smith and the Rev. Kenneth Bolton officiating. Mr. Jim Gill will be an honorary speaker.

Interment will follow at Gray Cemetery in Bakewell.

Pallbearers will be the Soddy-Daisy Senior Neighbors.

Peggy Presley Green, 88, passed away on December 22, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Hattie Moore Presley and Vernon Presley. She was born in Sale Creek on February 18, 1931. She was married to the late Roland L. Green, Sr. and they had two sons, Rick and Roland Jr., who preceded her in death along with her brother Tommy Presley.

She was survived by her grandsons, Joe, Brad (Jessie) and Greg Green; great-grandchildren, Abbi, Joseph, Jaycie and Alli; sister-in-law, Edith Presley; two daughters-in-law, Cindy Green, Rhonda Green (Mike) Ritchey along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Peggy was a member of the Sale Creek Church of God. She worked in the cafeteria at the Sale Creek School and at the Hardees in Soddy Daisy where she was an award winning biscuit maker.

Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2019. Services will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Bolton officiating and Michael Presley speaking. Interment will follow in Gray Cemetery.
