MACON - James Lloyd Wilson, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at home.
Mr. Wilson, a son of the late Carl and Lola Elizabeth Wilson, was born in Ooltewah. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, having served in England during World War II. He attained the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Wilson was retired from Southern Railway. He was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret K. Wilson; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Wilson of Atlanta; his daughter and sonin-law, Catherine and Pete Whitfield of Albany, Ga.; his son and daughterin-law, John and Denise Wilson of Cochran, Ga.; his son and daughterin-law, Richard and Sharon Wilson of Jefferson, Ga.; his sister, Betty Jo Smith of Ooltewah; his brother, David Wilson of Clewiston, Fla. His grandchildren include Lori Wilson, Greg and Stacey Whitfield and Mark Whitfield, all of Atlanta, Josh and Cala Wilson of Cochran, Rebecca Wilson of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Austin and Elliott Wilson of Jefferson, Ga. Mr. Wilson is also survived by one great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreatgrandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 21, at Varnell Cemetery in Ooltewah.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Macon, Ga.
The family will meet friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Hart's Mortuary, Macon, has charge of arrangements.
