Girthey Clingan, age 83, of Dayton, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Life Care of Rhea County. She was born January 10, 1928 in McCaysville, GA to the late Charles and Ida Cantrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Clingan.
Girthey worked many years in area factories and was of the Church of God faith.
She is survived by her son, Charles “Sammy” (Wanda) Clingan of Cleveland, her daughter, Anna Lou Postell of Blue Ridge, GA, her adopted son, Dwight Sluder of Lafayette, Ga and seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Girthey will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grady Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery in Sale Creek.
