Vernon's obit:
Vernon Payne Sluder, 96, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.
Ms. Sluder was preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Sluder; two sons, Ray Sluder and Vance Sluder and seven sisters.
She is survived by her sons, James L. (Sheila) Sluder, Mickey Sluder; daughters, Bea (Archie) Fitzgerald, Sandra (Stanley) Hineman, Janie (Bobby) Runyan, Debbie Roddy; twenty grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Pat and Mary for all their love and care they provided to their mother.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ted Painter officiating. Interment will follow in Hotwater Cemetery. Visitation is 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, at the funeral home. Ms. Sluder’s grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial donations to: New Salem Baptist Church, 9806 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
