Bertha Christian Lipscomb Moore, 91, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Chattanooga, widow of Paul E. Moore, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.
She was the daughter of the late Whirtley T. and Olive Madison Lipscomb.

She is survived by her daughter, Paulette Moore Heidel and husband, Cid Heidel; son, Lawrence E. Moore, wife, Ann Rash Moore; grandchildren, Rhea Scott McClintock, Catherine M. Smith, Virginia M. Walters, Laura A. Dick and Cynthia D. Lawson; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia L. Lemmon and Thelma L. Whitaker; brothers, Whirtley T. Lipscomb, William A. Lipscomb, Carroll G. Lipscomb and Marshall Lipscomb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In the 1940s, Mrs. Moore was district manager for Woolworth’s lunch counters. She then owned and operated her own restaurant in Chattanooga for many years. She then retired from Miller & Rhodes as food service manager of the Tea Room. She was an active member of Stratford Hills United Methodist Church, was travel coordinator of 20 years for the Stratford Hills Lesiure Group.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Southampton Women’s Club and was a volunteer for many years at Mcquire VA Hospital.

The funeral services will be at noon Friday at Bliley Funeral Homes Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, VA. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday in Silverdale Cemetery in Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may he made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheizmer’s Association.
