Mary Ellen Robbins was born March 1, 1883 in either Pickett or Fentress County Tennessee, the daughter of John Robbins & Rhoda Adeline Cravens. She spent her youth in the area and in 1903/1904 married Lafayette Branford Robbins and together the two had 8 children before his death in 1929. She remained a widow for the rest of her days as far as can be established and in the late 1950s left Tennessee living in Cincinnati at the time of her daughter Oshia's death in 1962. She returned to Tennessee by 1965 however as that is where she reportedly received her SSN. On Oct 8, 1975 she died and is buried next to her husband in the Robbinstown Cemetery.
