Lafayette Branford Robbins was born October 7, 1881 in Monroe, Overton County, Tennessee. He was the son of Issac Alexander "Big Bud" Robbins, a member of Tinker Dave Beaty's independent Scouts during the civil war and Mary Catherine Winningham. Throughout his youth he lived in Fentress, Overton, Pickett & Anderson Counties in Tennessee. In 1903/1904 he married Mary Ellen Robbins with whom he had 8 children (Oshia, Hattie, Vonnie, Edith, Kenneth, Elise, Delpha & Willie Mae). On November 5, 1929, he was killed in a auto accident on M-24 in Monroe County, Michigan while either living with or visiting his brother Marion Andrew Robbins in Detroit.
