BLUFF CITY, Tenn. – Alvin "Pete" Weaver, age 72, of 621 Vickars Road, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his residence, following a brief illness.
A native of Sullivan County, he was a son of the late Fred C. and Lakie Cross Weaver. Mr. Weaver was a retired truck driver for Dairyman Inc., and was an avid fisherman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolynn L. Weaver.
He is survived by three sons, Alvin Scott Weaver and wife Pam, Gastonia, N.C., and Kelly S. Weaver and James A. Weaver, both of Marion, Va.; a stepson, Patrick S. O'Ferrall and wife Sandra, Piney Flats; a stepdaughter, Robin Barnes, Roan Mountain; a brother, John T. Weaver, Bluff City; a sister, Helen McCracken and husband Charles, Bluff City; a stepbrother, Harvey Weaver, Bristol; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and a special friend, June Williams, Marion.
The graveside service and interment for Mr. Alvin "Pete" Weaver will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in the Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City, with the Rev. O.S. "Buddy" Chapman officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday.
Honorary pallbearers are Butch Walker, Chuck Aldridge, Gary Baker, Ricky Bowers, Jerry Bowyer and Lucky Watts.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, or at the residence other times.
