In Loving Memory

Cornelius 'C.B.' Bowman, aged 93, passed away peacefully on December 6th with his wife, two daughters and a nephew at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sallie Hughes Bowman; his half brother Paul Hughes, and his brothers Bill, Arvel, and James.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kathleen; his daughters Kathy (Arthur) Ross, and Jeanne (Mark) Overbay; his granddaughter Kristen Overbay; his special nephews Billy, Robert and Joe Bowman, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cornelius served as a truck driver in World War II, seeing action on the Normandy beaches at D Day plus six, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of Paris. He was a minor league left handed pitcher. He and Kathleen opened a grocery store in Bakewell after the war, and then a gas and grocery station. Cornelius drove a school bus for many years, as well as running his other businesses. He helped bring municipal water to Bakewell/Union Fork, and ran the water company for many years.

He was a long time member of the Bakewell Bible Church.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Runyan officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery.  Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
