Billy Lee "Papaw" Bowman, 74, of Soddy Daisy, TN lost his long battle with cancer on Thursday, July 12, 2012. He was still sharing his testimony and faith till the end.

Mr. Bowman was a member of the Hixson Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 30 years.

He retired from Dupont after 33 years of service. Bill was known for his love and pride for his family and enjoyed all their activities and sports events he attended until he became sick. He loved to be on his tractor and work in his garden. Bill was known for his sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Bowman; mother, Helen Kell; twin sister, Betty and his great grandchild, Taryn May.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue "Susie" Bowman; daughter and son-in-law, Billie Sue and Steve May; grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Stephanie May, Justin and Heather May and Brooke and Chris DeLorenzo; great grandchildren, Lauren, Gracie, Carlie, Race, Reagan, Caleb, Chase, Sophie, Randy, Christian, Gage, Ambree and Deacon and special friends, Ronnie and Barbara Williams.

Services will be on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Pat Baze officiating.

Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
