Cleo Obit:
Cleo Lewis Chauncey, 89, of Mowbray Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. She was a founding member of Mowbray Presbyterian Church where she served as treasurer of the Sunday School for many years. Cleo was also a member of the Mowbray Presbyterian Church Phoebe’s Circle and Quilters. She was a seamstress and quilter who enjoyed needlework, crochet and cross stitch. Cleo graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berto Chauncey; parents, Lester and Ella Mae Lewis; brother, Carlos Lewis; sister, Villa Burkhart and husband Ernest and son-in-law, Clarence “Skip” Fennewald.

Survivors are her daughters, Brenda Fennewald, Angela Chauncey and Sharon Roddy and husband Mike; brothers, Clifford Lewis and wife Alice, Alvin Lewis and wife Melba and Wesley Lewis and wife Wanda; sisters, Bea Starnes and husband Glenn and Talma Lou Farris and husband Grant and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grant Chauncey officiating. Burial will follow at Varner-Grant Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Berto Obit:
Berto Samuel Chauncey, 91, of Mowbray Mountain, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 6, 2016.  Born June 13, 1924 on Mowbray Mountain, he graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School.  Berto served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.  He was a founding member of Mowbray Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for many years.  Berto began work at B. Miffin Hood then W.C. Teas Electrical Contractors and Adman Electrical Contractors.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA, lifetime member of the Chattanooga Optimist Club and a member of the National Association of Accountants.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Effie Chauncey; siblings, Claude Chauncey, Grant Chauncey, Reba (Bob) Bash, Joy Runion and Evelyn Chauncey and son-in-law, Clarence “Skip” Fennewald, MD.

Survivors include his beloved wife 68 years, Cleo Lewis Chauncey; daughters, Brenda Fennewald; Sharon (Mike) Roddy and Angela Chauncey; siblings, Nellie (John) McClendon, Perry (Pat) Chauncey, Sammy (Gaye) Chauncey, Deborah (Stanley) Fugate and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grant Chauncey officiating.  Burial will follow at Varner-Grant Cemetery.  Visitation is Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
