Beason - Woodland Height Cemetery
Hamilton County,
Tennessee

The land for Beason Cemetery was donated by Grant Beason. He and his wife were buried there in 1838, but their graves have no markers. As well as the Beason's, the Stringer's, whom Stringer's Ridge was named, are also buried there.

The Woodland Heights Cemetery is located next to the Beason Cemetery. At this time you can't tell where one cemetery ends and the other begins. Woodland Height headstones are included in the Beason Cemetery listing.

With the exception of some family plots, both cemeteries are badly maintained – they are overgrown (I had to cut a path to take some of the pictures) and numerous headstones are either broken or unreadable. Both cemeteries are still in use.

Beason Cemetery is located three miles northwest of Chattanooga. Follow the signs to the Woodland Heights Baptist Church. The cemetery is past the church parking lot. Turn left on the dirt road.

Survey was completed in Aug 2021.
