In the 1820’s, our G-G-G-Grandparents, John and Nancy came from Greenville Co., SC and settled in Carroll Co., TN. They had a small store and farm and lived about 4 miles East of here near the Carroll – Henderson Co., line. John was paralyzed the last 9 years of his life. Both are buried here in unmarked graves in Barham family cem. They raised 10 children with 4 being blind – Janie, Sallie, Henry and Ella Mae were blind. Nancy, Clarinda, G-G-Grandfather James Ross, twins Wylie Edward Hudson and Mary and Daniel were not. James and Daniel fought in the Confederacy. In 1846, Clarinda wed Andrew Jackson Barham, a planter and Methodist minister. They had 10 children. She died in 1861 giving birth to twin daughters who lived. In 1853, James married Francis Dilday in Carroll Co. They had 6 children. John Amos born in 1859, was our G-Grandfather. In 1884, John wed Nancy Kernell in Stewart Co. They had 7 children. Johnny Joseph, born in 1892, was our Grandfather. Early 1900’s, Johnny wed Hattie Stoneham in Stewart Co. They had 6 children. Eddie Ray, born 1927, was our Father. In 1947, Ed wed Mary Helen Miller in Corinth, MS. They had 3 children. Those children salute and honor with this memorial, their forefathers over 200 years of sacrifice for our PAGE heritage.
