Raymond C. “R.C.” Calhoun, age 76, of Bristol, TN, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1933 in Bristol, TN, a son of the late John P. and Alma Pierce Calhoun. He retired from the Bristol Virginia Housing Authority and he was the former owner and operator of Ray’s Auto Shop. He was a member of the Bristol VFW Honor Guard and was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.

Wife: Peggy June Bowers Calhoun
Son: Gary Wayne Calhoun
Grandchildren: Misty Jackson, Tony Calhoun and Ben Calhoun
Great-Granddaughter: Lakin
Sister: Virginia Waddell
Brothers; Ted Calhoun and wife Edith, and J.P. Calhoun and wife Ruby
Sisters-in-law: Betty Carden and Hilda Bowers
Brother-in-law: Charles Bowers and wife Betty
A good family friend: J.C. Collins
Several nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral service will be held Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Glenwood Mausoelum Chapel with Rev. Walter Statzer officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Saturday at Weaver Funeral Home. Peggy June Bowers Calhoun, age 77, of Bristol, TN passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the Greystone Heatlh Care Center. She was born April 26, 1934 in Bristol a daughter of the late James and Lucille Stone Bowers, and she lived her life in the Bristol area. She was a former employee of Lerner Shop and of Bristol Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond C. Calhoun. She is survived by:

Son: Gary Calhoun
Grandchildren: Misty Dawn Calhoun, Anthony Wayne Calhoun, and Benjamin Preston Calhoun
Great Granddaughter: Laken Shuler
Sister: Betty J. Carden
Brother: Charles Bowers and wife Betty
Sister-in-law: Hilda Bowers
Several Nieces and Nephews

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Danny Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Friday at Weaver Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association at 3101 Brown Mill Rd. Suite 6 Johnson City, TN 37604. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net. Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
