Edwin B. Wexler, 48, prominent Sullivan County resident, died at 2:10 a.m. today at his home near Pactolus following a prolonged illness. At the age of 32 [sic] he married Miss Sarah Spahr, August 19, 1916, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Spahr. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. Talitha Wexler and the following children: John, Ruth, Dorothy, Ray, Ralph and Mildred Wexler, also several brothers and sisters as follows: Alvin Wexler, Mrs. J. C. Neil, Mrs. Guy E. DeVault, all of Kingsport, George Wexler of Johnson City, and Mrs. J. R. Morrell of Stanford, Ky. The Hamlett-Dobson funeral home will have charge of the burial to be held at the Pyle Cemetery on Chestnut Ridge at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. Short services will be conducted at the home tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. The service will be in charge of Rev. W. N. Cox of the Fall Branch circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church, assisted by Rev. W. L. Pickering. Active pallbearers will be J. L. Bridwell, H. C. Murf, J. W. Dickson, Lewis Hunt, Charlie Kestnerand George Bradley. His nephews and nieces will act as flower bearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Dr. R. C. Childress, Dr. G. G. Keener,

Mrs. Sarah Spahr Wexler, 78, 3500 Wesley Rd., died in Holston Valley Community Hospital at 11:15 a.m. Saturday after a short illness. Born in Sullivan County, she had spent her entire life here and attended a Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Edwin B. Wexler, died in 1932. Survivors include her daughters, Misses Ruth and Dorothy Wexler, both of Kingsport, and Mrs. William (Mildred) Poe, Chuckey; sons, John E. of Kingsport and Ralph V. Wexler, Chattanooga; a brother, Neal B. Spahr, Knoxville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home is in charge. KINGSPORT TIMES, 14 April 1974.
