Marion March 1, 1925 - July 29, 2010
Marion “Sheriff” Garland, age 85, of Bristol, TN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 29, 2010. He was born March 1, 1925, a son to the late Charlie Garland and Alice Howe Garland. A native of Shady Valley, TN, he had lived in the Bristol area most of his life. After his retirement from Cortrim, Marion dedicated his life to being a good soldier for Christ by visiting the elderly and ministering to all in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Gross Garland and a grandson, Kenneth Lunsford

Daughters: Darlene Guy and husband Bobby, Sue Gouge and husband Frank, Jean Garland
Grandchildren: Keith Lunsford and wife Karen, Bobbie Nave and husband Bo, Michelle Gouge and husband Chad, Jimmy Trivett and wife Jenny, Barrett Bright and Gigi
Great Grandchildren: Brianna, Regan, Spencer, Kasey, Tatum, Mattie, Nolan
Several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Friday, July 2, 2010 from the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Tester and Rev. Mike Abel officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM prior to the funeral service. Committal services and burial will be at Rooty Branch Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 3, 2010. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hickory Tree Fire Department and South Holston Rescue Squad. They would also like to extend a special thank you to the Ralph Rogers family, to Junior Gross, and to Dewey Osborne. Online condolences may be registered at www.Weaverfuneralhome.net.
Nola January 10, 1923 - December 11, 2003
Nola O. "Granny" Garland, age 80, of 319 Emmett Way, Bristol, TN went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2003 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Bessie Clark Gross and was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. She was retired from Bristol Jeans and also worked at Hickory Tree Store. She was a member of Florence Union Church.
Survivors include: Husband of 56 years - Marion Garland
Daughters - Darlene Guy and husband Bobby, Sue Bright, and Jean Garland
Granddaughters - Bobbie Gail Nave and husband Bo and Michelle Gouge and husband Chad
6 Great Grandchildren
Grandsons - Keith Lunsford and wife Karen, Kenneth Lunsford and wife Mary, Barrett Bright, and Jimmy Trivette
Sisters - Helen Herendon, Pauline Hinkle, Crita Rogers, and Catherine Buchanan
Brother - Robert Gross
Preceded in death by a brother - Howard Gross and sister Lavance Greer
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 pm at Rooty Branch Church with Rev. Bobby Tester and Rev. Mike Able officiating. Interment will follow in Rooty Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Freddie Herendon, Cecil Gross, Ronnie Buchanan, Gary Rogers, Roger Hinkle, and Robert Tester. Honorary pallbearers will be friends at Hickory Tree Store and a special friend Paul Gibson. The family would like to say a special thanks to the Wellmont Hospice House. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 pm at Weaver Funeral Home. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
