Obituary for Connie Oliver
Connie "Carma" Oliver, age 88, of 629 Cripple Creek Road, Watauga, TN went to be with the Lord Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. She was a native of Carter County, but lived most of her life in Sullivan County. She was a daughter of the late Charlie D. Bowers, Sr. and Liza Jane Pierce Bowers. Mrs. Oliver was a Homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Oliver in 1984; three brothers, Stanley Bowers, Joe Bowers and Charlie "Chud" Bowers, Jr. and two sisters, Ellen Parks and Bonnie Oliver. Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Oliver of the home and Brenda Berry and husband James of Elizabethton; one son, Lloyd Oliver of the home. "Granny" was dearly loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Scotty Brooks of Watauga, Michelle Poche and spouse Eric of Elizabethton, April Honeycutt and spouse Keith of Ellenboro, NC; five great grandchildren, Patrick Phillips of Johnson City, Chad & Gavin Babb and Michael Simmons all of Elizabethton and Bryson Honeycutt of Ellenboro, NC; several step grandchildren; two brothers, Jay Bowers of Elizabethton and Leslie Bowers; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lynch of Bristol, VA and Mrs. Julie Willen of Bristol, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Oliver will be conducted at 8:30 P.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Tetrick Funeral Home - Bluff City Chapel with Bro. Bobby Stout and Bro. Charles Biggs officiating. Music will be under the direction of Pleasant Beach Quartet. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:30 Wednesday prior to the service in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home and other times at the home or the residence of a daughter at 1719 Scenic Drive, Elizabethton, TN. Graveside service and interment will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday at Sunrise Cemetery, Bluff City, TN. Everyone will meet at the Funeral Home at 9:30 A.M. to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lloyd Oliver, Scotty Brooks, Eric Poche, James Berry, Melvin Simons and Keith Honeycutt.
