Loyd June 29, 1928 - May 16, 2006
Loyd Carlos Christian, age 77, of Bessemer City, N.C. passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was born June 29, 1928 in Kingsport, TN, a son of the late Herbert and Mary Scism Christian. Mr. Christian has made his home in the Gastonia area for the past 40 years. He is a retired employee of Westinghouse after 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Hinkle Christian.

Step-Sons: Jeff Cox and Randall Cox and wife Janet

Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 8:00PM in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Albertino and Rev. Kenneth Rouse officiating. The committal service will be conducted Friday at 11:00AM at Sunrise Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Teets, Jerry Waters, Randall Cox, Jeff Cox, Shane Christian and Larry May. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 PM prior to the service.
Carmen July 1, 1928 - May 19, 2005
Carmen Cox Christian, age 76, passed away, Thursday, May 19, 2005 at her residence in Bessemer City, NC. She was born in Sullivan County, TN, a daughter of the late John Ed Hinkle and Vesta Rice Hinkle and lived in the Bristol area most of her life before moving to Bessemer City, NC 27 years ago. She was a former member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Possum Creek and she was preceded in death by a son, Chris Cox, two Brothers and two Sisters.

Two Step-Sons: Larry Christian and wife, Earldean- Kannapolis, NC and Mark Christian- Bessemer City, NC
Two Sisters: Anna Belle Mahaffey- Bristol, TN and Mary Lynn Leonard- Blountville, TN
Two Brothers: Jerry Hinkle and Junior Hinkle- both of Blountville, TN
Five Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren
Two Step- Grandchildren and One Step- Great Grandchild

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, May 21, 2005 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Addington and Rev Ronnie Leonard officiating. The committal will be at 11 AM Sunday at the Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City, TN with Pastor Buddy Chapman officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Christian, Mike Rudder, Darrell Chambers, Gail Thacker, Dave Davenport and Jeffrey Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 PM Saturday at the Weaver Funeral Home.
