Ollie Hodges Woods, 94, 248 Tate Road, Bluff City, died Monday, October 1, 2007, at the residence of her daughter, Dottie Carr, following an extended illness.


Mrs. Woods was born in Avery County, N.C., to the late Ira and Carrie Baliff Hodges. She was a member of Blessed Redeemer Baptist Church.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Woods Hicks, two sons, Buddy Woods and Allen "Rick" Woods, three sisters and a brother.


Survivors include four sons, Don A. Woods and wife Trudy, Edgewater, Fla., Kyle Paul Woods and wife Jean, Riverdale, Mich., Max Woods and wife Janice, Goodview, Va., and Tony Hicks and wife Kathy, Garden City, Mich.; four daughters, Phyllis Woods Carr, Rochester, N.Y., Dottie Woods Carr and husband Raymond, Bluff City, Linda Woods Ferguson and husband Bobby, Belleville, Mich., and Nancy Woods Hampton and husband Si, Goodview, Va.; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Hodges and wife Betty, Connelly Springs, N.C., and Pat Hodges and wife Linda, Banner Elk, N.C.; two sisters, Mable Smith, Baltimore, Md.,and Audrey Fender, Huntsville, Ala.; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Woods, Bluff City.


The funeral service for Mrs. Woods will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday,
October 5, in the Bluff City Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City, with the Eulogy given by Mr. Daniel Minton. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Dottie, at 248 Tate Road, Bluff City. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Sunrise Cemetery.
