Glenna C Sept 2, 1914 to Jan 29, 2009 ~ She was the fruit of the spirit
BLUFF CITY, Tenn. – Glenna Hitchcock, 94, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Mollie Woods Sams. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bluff City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hitchcock, and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Arthur Buddy Carrier, Edmund Carrier and Melvin K. Carrier, all of Bluff City; three sisters, Mona Lillie, Nina Effinger and Ann Maines, all of Bristol Tennessee; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, with Mr. Derek Cornett, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home or other times at the home of her son, Edmund Carrier. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Sunrise Cemetery. Everyone is requested to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 to go in procession to the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be five grandsons and Lenville Sams.
