Per obit: During World War II, Jack served his country from 1944–46 as a member of the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific theater. He was a radio operator aboard the USS Crittenden and transported troops to Pearl Harbor, Guam, Manila, Leyte Gulf, the Philippines and Okinawa.
He is survived by his wife, Tee, and his children and grandchildren, Fred Carr and wife, Nanette, and daughter, Meredith, of Signal Mountain; Charlotte Vlasis and husband, John, and children, Mary Chris and Dean, of Chattanooga; Dr. Wiley Carr and wife, Phyllis, and children, Austin and Kathryn, of Chattanooga; Allen Carr and wife, Jimmie Sue, and children, Mic and Mallory, of McDonough, Ga.; Beth Smithson and husband, Terry, and daughters, Tara and Holly, of Concord, N.C.; TSgt. Michael Myers and wife, Olga, of Kings Lynn, England; Pat Myers and wife, Beth, and children, Katie and Evan, of Rock Spring, Ga.; Chris Myers and wife, Sandy, and sons, Shane, Stephen and Nick, of Resaca, Ga.; his sister, Charlotte Robbe and husband, Ange, and their daughters, Susan and Betsy, from Georgia; and his brother-in-law, Pete Carnes and wife, Paula; and sons, Richard and Brian, from Nevada.
