Parents: Marcus and Jane Simpson Gillespie,
Wives: Maggie Castle, Tennie Davis,
Children: Earl, Grace, John, Robert and William Gillespie,
Siblings: Mrs. Sara Steele, Mrs. Katherine Conner, James, Robert and John Gillespie. - Jacob Carl Gillespie son per headstone.
He enlisted in Confederate Army at Chattanooga, TN in July or August of 1861; in Capt. Fletcher White's company as second sergeant in Company D, Fourth Georgia cavalry, from the fall of 1862 to the end of the war: paroled at Kingston, GA May 12, 1865 as sergeant. Member of N. B. Forrest camp
