Herschell Taylor Green, 80, of Signal Mountain, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at his residence after a long and full life.
Mr. Green was of the Methodist faith. He was a lifelong resident of Signal Mountain. He served in the South Pacific during WWII and was retired form DuPont in 1981 after 31 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth "Taylor" Green; one brother and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Green; sons, David and Jimmy Green; daughters, Susan Craft, Kathy Lonergan; brothers, Thomas R. Green, Harris Green; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Minister Peter Green officiating.
Interment will follow in Sawyer Cemetery on Signal Mountain.
Family will receive friends from 2-9 on Thursday at the funeral home.
Williamson & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charlotte Green, 94, of Signal Mountain, died quietly at her residence on January 14, 2021 surrounded by family.
She was born February 18, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest daughter of Charles and Anna Einhaus. She moved with her family to Utah when she was 14 and in a few years the family moved again to San Francisco, California where she graduated from Mission High School. She met Herschell Green who was in the Navy Coast Guard stationed at Port Reys, CA. after the war the couple married in 1945 and moved to Tennessee.
Charlotte was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, her parents and her 3 sisters. Survived by her 4 children, James Green (Rita), David Green (Anne), Kathy Lonergan (Ray) and Susan Craft, her loyal caregiver. She had 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, as well as several great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held January 23, 2021 at 3:00pm via zoom. Brother Brian Whited will officiate and Brother Paul Putt will assist as chairman. Interment of deceased’ ashes will be private. Charlotte was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness for 70 years. The family wishes to thank all the friends who have been so supportive during this difficult time.
