Minnie Frasure McKenzie, 86, of Chattanooga, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, died on Monday, October 4, 2010 in a local health care facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McKenzie; mother and stepfather, Julia and James Williams; father, William Frasure and sister, Edna.
She was a former member of Wings of Love Missionary Baptist Church, Detroit and a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church (Family Ministry 5 and Club Ministry 11).
Survivors include a son, Tony (Tracey) McKenzie; four grandchildren, Tony, Jr., Titan, Trinity and Tathian McKenzie, all of Perris, Ca.; aunt, Jessie Johnson, Chicago, Il.; sisters and brothers; devoted brother-in-law and caregiver, Charles E. (Mattie) McKenzie; devoted sisters-in-law, Betty Massengill, Annie Armour and Mary Lewis, all of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare of Chattanooga (especially Jamesetta Sexton and Tasha Rooks and roommate, Betty Davis) and Hospice of Chattanooga for the excellent and loving care give to Minnie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Second Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Paul A. McDaniel officiating. Interment will be in Johnson Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, Oct. 8, with the family receiving friends from 6–7 p.m. at the John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
