George Foster McPherson, of Summit, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at East Ridge Hospital.
He was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church. He was retired from House-Hasson Hardware Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy McPherson; parents, George and Lucille McPherson; children, a set of twins; daughters, Shelia and Teresa McPherson and Bonita Crockett; brothers, Walter, Wallace and John McPherson; and sister, Maggie Mae Johnson.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing five daughters, Carolyn Collier, Georgia (Kenneth) Petty, Angela McPherson, Iris (Walter) Rogers and Karen (Michael) Haywood; seven sons, Billy, Victor (Jackie), Edwin Darryl, Wade, Kevin (Winfred) and Gary McPherson, all of Chattanooga, and Stacey McPherson, San Diego, Calif.; sister, Ella (Aaron) Johnson, Ohio; two brothers, Edward (Clara) and Leroy (Doris) McPherson of Boston, Mass.; one sister-in-law, Pearline (Owen) Jones of Chattanooga; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends. Also a special friend, Candice Lee.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, April 17, at Friendship Community Church where Bishop Sean Teal is the pastor and the Rev. Lamar Gilbert will officiate.
Interment will be in Summit Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 p.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
