Harley "Gene" Buckner, 65, of Ooltewah, born March 13, 1943, died in a local hospital on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, after battling cancer and other illnesses for 14 years.

Retired in 1998 from McKee Baking Co. after 35 years of service, he was a member of Gamble Road Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Robert and Myrtle; sister, Connie Buckner.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Buckner; son, David (Elizabeth) Buckner; daughter, Gayle (Mike) Gossett; grandchildren, Brittany (Jason) Maynor, Nicholas Buckner, Fawnna Parker, Jesse, Summer, Manuela, Enrique and Albert; great-granddaughters, Makala and Abigail Maynor; brother, Colonel Buckner, of Tellico Plains, Tn.; sisters, Sue Aaron, Dora Lee Newman, Barbara Wade, all of Etowah, Tn., Linda Brogdon and Nora Nation, both of Apison, Helen Leamon, of Ooltewah; several nieces and nephews.

He was a very loved man and will be missed by everyone.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Gamble Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Cornelius and the Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating.

The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until funeral time.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Linda Sue Buckner, 71, went to be with the Lord on Thursday June 7, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of Ooltewah and member of Gamble Road Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and caregiver to everyone. She retired from McKee Foods after 31 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harley “Gene” Buckner and her parents Hardy T. and Anna Mae Davis; sisters, Evelyn “Dot” Bowman, Mildred Bowman, Jewell Brackett, and Phyllis Johnson; brother, Harold Davis and a lifelong friend Ben Ray.

She is survived by her son David Buckner; daughter, Gayle (Mike) Gossett; brother, Junior Davis; sister, Diane Farris and Darlene “Tiny” Ramsey; grandchildren, Fawnna (Craig) Mizell, Nicholas Buckner, Brittany (Jason) Maynor; great-grandchildren, Makala, Abby, and Brayden Maynor as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home Chapel @ Hwy. 58 with Minister Josh Cornelius officiating. Linda will be buried at Holder Cemetery in Harrison, Tennessee.
