Obituaries:
Michael Stuart “Mike” McGill, 90, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021. He attended Mowbray Presbyterian Church. Mike served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Combustion Engineering. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working outside and watching his grandkids play ball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vergil and Jean McGill; wife, Betty McGill; sons, Michael McGill and Seth McGill and grandsons, Jason McGill, John Ashburn and Stuart Ashburn.
Survivors are his children, Linda Ashburn, Sheila Shadwick (Floyd) and Scot McGill (Michelle); sister, Bobbie Yother; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tommy Preston officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Betty Jean McGill, 85, of Mowbray, passed away March 10, 2020. She was a member of the Mowbray Presbyterian Church. Betty dearly loved her family and they are going to deeply miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
She was survived by her husband of sixty eight years, Michael McGill; their children, Linda Ashburn, Sheila Shadwick, Michael A. McGill, Seth McGill and Scot McGill; a brother, Kenneth Smith; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. James Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
