Claude Burton, 90, of Dayton, Tenn., died Oct. 22, 2007, at Rhea Nursing Home.

He was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Tenn., a member of Victory Baptist Church and a labor union member. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He was a radio evangelist, retired after 35 years.

Special thanks to the staff and residents at The Courtyard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marie Burton; son, Billy Burton; three sisters, Martha James, Jannell Dorn and Ruth Harris; three brothers, Buck, Alvin and John Burton; parents, John and Suzie Burton.

Survivors include two sons, C. Randall (Connie) Burton of Dayton, Tenn., and Tommy C. (Leslie) Burton of Daytona Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Blake Burton of Sale Creek, Tenn.; sister, Juanita Holloway of Red Bank, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Visitation was Tuesday after 5 p.m. Interment will be in Lake Drive Cemetery, Sale Creek, Tenn.
