Stephen Lee Adams Sr., a founding member of the Chattanooga Board of Opticians, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at a local hospital.
He was 70. Mr. Adams had been an optician since 1949. He had lived in Sale Creek and been a member of Lake Drive Baptist Church for 38 years. An avid writer whose clients included Warner Brothers Records, he was the author of the upcoming book From the Gates of Eden.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jo Anna Adams; four daughters, Melody Romita and Darlene Adams, both of Hixson, Brigette Anne Adams and Kemberlen Adams Renfro, both of Sale Creek; a son, Stephen Lee Adams Jr., Hixson; a brother, Carl Houston Adams, Chattanooga; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Lake Drive Baptist Church Cemetery with minister Harold Harris officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
