Shirnema "Shirley" Scribner Gibson, 61, went home to be with Jesus Saturday evening, Aug. 14, 2004, in a North Fort Myers, Fla., hospital.

She was a former resident of Soddy-Daisy and previously resided in Athens, Tenn., where she was a member of the Pilot Club. She was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

She was a buyer at Lovemans in Chattanooga, at Proffitt's in Knoxville and was store manager for Proffitt's in Athens.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Scribner, and brother, Russell Scribner.

Survivors include her husband, John W. Gibson of North Fort Myers; father, Harold E. Scribner of Soddy-Daisy; sons, John W. Gibson Jr. of Dalton, Ga., and Chris Gibson of North Fort Myers; brother, Dwight Brown of Elyria, Ohio; sister, Ramona Walker of Apison; and grandchildren, Ashley, Cheyenne and Aja Gibson. She leaves behind a large circle of family and friends on both her and her husband's side that she adored as her close family.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James D. Gibson and Dr. Al Goss officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Fork Cemetery with Marlin "Rudy" Gibson, Eric Hall, Pete Wilson, Robbie Hall, John Ryan Hall, Michael Gibson, Andy Gibson, Dustin Griffith, Alan Walker and Mark Smith serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, Soddy-Daisy.

John Wayne Gibson Sr., 68, formerly of Soddy-Daisy, left this earth to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at his home in Fort Myers, Fla., where he and his dear wife had retired in 2000.

He was born and raised in Soddy-Daisy where he graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School. He attended Tennessee Technological University, and received his degree in accounting from Chattanooga State Community College. He worked for U.S. Pipe and Foundry in Chattanooga in the 1960s. He became Arnold Palmer's cost accountant for his golf equipment company called Pro Group Inc. in Chattanooga, from 1972-1996, and finished his career in the same capacity as a cost accountant.

He was preceded in death by his one and only love on this earth, his wife of 46 years, Shirinena "Shirley" Gibson; mother, Martine Gibson; father, Benjamin Gibson.

He leaves behind two loving sons, John W. Gibson Jr. and wife, Martha, Chris Gibson and wife, Maureen; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Aja, Ashley, Destin, Summer, and Josh; brothers, David and wife, Faye Gibson, Fred and wife, Vern Gibson, Marvin "Rudy" and wife, Marty Gibson; sisters, Mary and husband, Pete Wilson, Rosa and husband, Robbie Hall; sister-in-law, Ramona Walker, and a large list of loving family members who also mourn his loss.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James D. Gibson and Dr. Al Goss officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Fork Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Newby, Cass Neibors, Andy Gibson, Michael Gibson, Kenny Gibson, Eric Hall, Aaron Hall, John Ryan Hall, Alan Walker.

Family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy.
