Betty's Obit:
Betty Penney Hankins, age 86, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, went home to be with her precious Savior Jesus Christ on April 4, 2012 (her granddaughter’s birthday). She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, and cousin; loving Nana and Great Nana; and devoted friend. She attended North Hixson Church of God (Pastor Rick Smith) with her daughter Yvonne and visited Graysville Church of God (Pastor Jimmie Talley) with her son Jerry. She was a beloved saint filled with the Holy Ghost. Dear Mother, it is goodbye for now until we meet again on that beautiful golden shore.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hankins, parents Fred and Aldine Penney, sister Lillian Phillips, and brothers Ralph (Skinny) Penney, Cecil (Boots) Penney, and James N. (Jim) Penney. Her special friend Brooxie Durham made her heavenly journey on March 28.

Betty is survived by her loving children: son Jerry (Marie) Hankins and daughter Yvonne Hankins (Jackie) of Soddy-Daisy. Brother: William A. (Bill) Penney. Grandchildren: Krystal Hankins (children Nicholas and Kayleigh) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Lindsey (Lloyd) Gibson (children Trenton and Sarah Rose), Miriam Hankins, and Tesheka Hankins all of Soddy-Daisy. Nieces: Shirley Jenkins, Charlotte Ann Wall, Juanita Keltch, Wanda Wilson, Linda Gail Lasley, and Susie Bowman. Nephews: Harry Phillips, Doyle Penney, and Butch Penney. Also other nieces and nephews and cousins. The cats Isabella and Shadow will miss her dearly.

Betty worked at Dri-Set Sewing Factory in Graysville, Tennessee, for 32 years. She enjoyed creating special clothing for family and friends. She loved gardening and canning. She won many blue ribbons at the Hamilton County Fair for her vegetables. She had even started her garden for 2012. She quilted at Oak Street Baptist Church with the Ladies Quilting Group. Many of her family members are the proud owners of her beautiful quilts. She volunteered at the Soddy-Daisy Senior Center. She enjoyed visiting friends and helping others.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 6 at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Smith and Pastor Jimmie Talley officiating. A special tribute will be presented by granddaughter Lindsey Gibson. Interment will follow the service at East Soddy Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

The family would like to give thanks to Erlanger Hospital and Hospice of Chattanooga. A very special thanks to nephew Kent Hankins and wife Edna for their close friendship to our dear mother.

Condolences and memories may be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.
