Willard Lawson, 89, of Crossville, passed away Aug. 10, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 13 at Winesap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Leslie Hickey and the Rev. Rudy Oakes officiating. Burial was in Thomas Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Lawson was born July 15, 1913, in Pikeville, TN, the son of Gaither and Mary Heartence Angel Lawson.
He was a firefighter for the State Forestry Department.
Survivors include his sons, Arnold Lawson of Pikeville, Hubert Lawson of Wabeno, WI, and Buford Lawson and Ricky Lawson, both of Crossville; daughters, Bonnie Brewer, Wanda Fields and Jo Ann Brewer, all of Crossville; brothers, Lee Lawson of Sparta and W.T. Lawson of Crossville; sisters, Emma Embry and Ollie Lewis, both of Crossville; 31 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Blaylock Lawson; sons, Billy Lawson, Wayne Lawson, James Lawson and Willard V. Lawson; daughter, Mildred Angel; brothers, Homer Lawson, Fred Lawson and Olen Lawson; sister, Ethel Tucker; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Mr. Lawson's son, Ricky Lawson; grandsons, Jimmy Lawson, Billy Keagle, Keith Brewer, Daryl Brewer, Bradley Fields, Tony Lawson, Hubert Lawson Jr. and Carlos Freeman; and son-in-law, Harliss Fields.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
