Marie Smith Burns, 81, of Hixson, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, in an area hospital.
Mrs. Burns will always be remembered by her family and friends as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford O. Burns; son, Carlos Burns; great-granddaughter, Makayla Tanner; three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her son, Gary O. Burns of Hixson; daughters, Brenda Dickson of Graysville, Tenn., Glenda Morgan and Sandra Jeffcote, both of Hixson, and Kim Bowman of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Nyle Lee Burns and the Rev. Ray Winkle officiating.
Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
Grandsons Gary Lee Burns, Patrick Dickson, Matt Shelby, Randy Morgan, Trace Lowe and David Scott will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.
