Nancy Cleo Matthews, 91, of Hixson, died on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at a local hospital.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Dixie Yarns after 50 years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Bethany Class for many years, and also a member of Monday School-Church services at the Hamilton County Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion E. and Mary Ann Layne; brothers, Ray Layne, John Layne, Calvin Layne; sisters, Violet London, Beatrice Poe, Mary Worley, Elizabeth Raines, Ruby Clayton, Mabel Clayton.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Teresa) Matthews; brother, David Marshall (Elsie) Layne; sister, Mildred Lenora Roberson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Darryl Duggar officiating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery in Hixson.
Her family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday and 3-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
