James R. "Tooter" Marshall of Hixson died Thursday, May 4, 2000, in a local hospital.
He was 83. Mr. Marshall was a bus driver for the Hamilton County Schools for 45 years and a member of Burks United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Marshall; two daughters, Catherine Neely and Carol Beddingfield, both of Hixson; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Burnett and the Rev. Harold Ray officiating.
Burial will be in Schneitman Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Burks United Methodist Church building fund.

Mary Gladys Marshall, 89, of Hixson, died on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Hospice of Chattanooga Walker Road facility.
Mrs. Marshall was a member of Burks United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She loved to make dolls and enjoyed collecting them. She was an avid Lady Vols Basketball fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. "Tooter" Marshall; sons, Bobby Daniel Marshall; granddaughter, Tracy Campbell; two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Catherine (William) Neely and Carol Beddingfield, all of Hixson; sister, Virginia Hickman of Soddy Daisy; grandchildren, Allen Neely of Soddy Daisy, and Vicki Hamilton of Calhoun, Tn.; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 21, in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rhonda Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Schneitman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416, or Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
Arrangements are by locally owned and operated Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Soddy Daisy, Tn.
