Mary “Ruth” Bice Myers, 82, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
She worked for the Lord all her adult life using her singing talent to uplift and comfort others. If you were hungry or thirsty, she would always have a pot of vegetable soup and cornbread and a big jug of ice tea. She loved everybody and was loved by everyone who knew her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Myers, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include her children, David (Cathy) Essex, Shirley (John) Hood, Steve (Kay) Essex, Ray Essex, Louie (Angie) Myers and Lennie Myers; sister, Lelia Davis; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, July 5, at noon in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Aaron Simmons, Reverend Troy Simmons and Reverend Melvin Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Dodd Cemetery.
Visitation is on Thursday, July 4, from 4-9 p.m., and Friday, from 10 a.m.-noon at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Kris Rose for her care and devotion and special thanks to all the Hospice of Chattanooga personnel who gave such excellent care especially Larry Johnson, RN and Shauna , CHPNA.
