Obit: Elizabeth "Libby" Rutherford Fleming, 84, of Bristol, Tennessee, died unexpectedly Monday, October 16, 2006, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Bristol, Tennessee on Wednesday, July 12, 1922, to the late James E. and Audrey Riley Rutherford and had lived here all her life. She was a graduate of King College, where she was chosen as Dogwood Queen her senior year. She retired from teaching after years of devoted service. Libby was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was also a member of A.C. Adams Sunday School Class. Libby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William O. "Bill" Fleming; two daughters, Nancy F. Rudolph and her husband, Ken, of Weaverville, North Carolina, and Lucy F. Crawford and her husband, Jeff, of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Betsy Hauptvogel, Courtney Windham and Betsy Crawford; four great grandchildren, Jordan Stephen and Jason Sammons and Tristan Windham.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Crawford, Ken Rudolph, Ben Rutherford, Dave Rutherford, Bob Pierson, and John Cavett, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Bristol at 701 Florida Avenue, Bristol, TN 37620.
