BLUFF CITY, Tenn. Ronald "Ronnie" Burnette, 67, peacefully passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Ronnie had recently accepted Christ as his Savior and spent the last few weeks of his life telling about his experience to anyone who would listen; he is now at home in Heaven where he will never know any more pain and suffering. Ronnie was retired from the City of Bluff City, and enjoyed spending time fishing and "piddling" in his little building out back. He is survived by his wife of forty three years, Stella Hicks Burnette; one daughter, Lori Burnette; son, Robert "Robbie" Burnette; and son and daughter in-law, Dustin and Sabrina Burnette; Ronnie was the very proud papaw of 4 grandchildren, Shane, Jordan, Brooklyn, and Dylan (his little DillyPop). He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert "Bob" and Rosa "Rosie" Burnette; and his twin brother, Donald, who died shortly after they were born. The funeral service for Mr. Burnette will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Bluff City Funeral Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday. Music will be provided by his daughter, Lori and his "honorary" daughter, Dawn Hicks Warren, who he thought of as one of his own; musical accompaniment will be provided by his sister-in-law, Sue Hicks. Long-time family friend and pastor of Belle Meadows Baptist Church, Dr. Dewey Williams will be presiding over the services. The graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bob Cornett, Allen Hicks, Steven Hicks, Wayne Warren, Dennis Miller and Russ Sekeller. Honorary pallbearers will be Vic Dommell and Andy Bower. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 10:50 a.m. at the cemetery on Wednesday. The family would like to thank the staff and members of Bristol Regional Medical Center, with special attention to his ER and ICU nurse, Brittney, who offered superior nursing and unprecedented attention and care to both Ronnie and his family. They would also like to offer sincere appreciation for both the professional care and personal concern that was received from Dr. Vardhanna and all of the staff at Blue Ridge Medical Specialists and the Regional Cancer Center - all of the kindness and care did not go unnoticed. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.tetrickfuneralhome.com and signing the guest book. Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City is serving the Burnette family. Office 423-538-7131. Obituary line 543-4917.
