Bettie Ruth Humphreys Minion, of Cordova, TN, died on May 3, 2015 in Nashville, TN. She was 88. A member of Second Baptist Church of Memphis, Mrs. Minion was involved with many types of outreach groups and ministries through the church. She was a retired Home Economics teacher for Shelby County Schools and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority. The family will receive guests for a catered gathering on Tuesday, May 5 from 11 a.m. until funeral services begin at 1 p.m. all at Memphis Funeral Home located at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Burial will follow in Cordova Cemetery with Rev. Don Marston and Rev. Sam Watkins conducting the services. Mrs. Minion was preceded in death by her husband Jerome “Jerry” Minion. She is survived by Jerry Minion, Jr. of Elliott, IL and Chris Minion of Ames, IA; brother James Humphreys of Huntingdon, TN; nieces Patti Morris of Nashville, TN, Kathy Cunningham of Dresden, TN and Beth Watkins of Georgetown, IN; nephew David Humphreys of Knoxville, TN; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and nephews. Memorials in her honor may be offered to the American Cancer Society or the Indian Creek Baptist Church in Georgetown, IN. Memphis Funeral Home (Published in The Commercial Appeal on May 5, 2015)
