Troy Byrd, 63, of Memphis, passed away on Tuesday, April 22 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 at the Covington Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Covington. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at the funeral home. Mr. Byrd was a graduate of Byars Hall High School and retired from the Chrysler Corporation after 36 years. He leaves his wife, Judy Byrd; one son, Michael Byrd of Memphis; two sisters, Linda (Jim) Jarrett and Carolyn (Tommy) Dew, both of Ripley, TN; one brother, Bobby (Rose) Byrd of Gardendale, AL and one grandson, Braxton Byrd of Bartlett. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Sarah (David) Weincoff of Memphis and Cathy (Homer) Harris of Jackson, TN; brother-in-law, John (Betty) Bishop of Covington and sisters-in-law, Sarah Byrd and Jean Byrd of Covington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mayburn Shelley Byrd and three brothers, Jerry Lane Byrd, Milford Byrd and Charles Roby Byrd. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Mid South Cancer Center and to Baptist Trinity Hospice and also to the many friends for their visits and phone calls. Memorials may be made to the Mid South Cancer Center.
