Fallwell Cemetery
Marshall County,
Tennessee

This Cemetery is the original burial site for Moses Falwell and some of his family. Moses is the son of Elisha & Elizabeth Falwell/Fallwell. Tombstone fragments from the graves of Elisha & Elizabeth and their infant child have been moved to this cemetery from the original burial site on the old homeplace of Elisha & Elizabeth Falwell. The reason for the move was that the Fallwell Family Cemetery of Elisha & Elizabeth had become demolished by large animals and the cemetery was located in a grove of trees out in a cow pasture about 1 mile walking distance off the road. The owner of the land had decided that he would plow the graves under and make the land there a part of his alfalfa field. He gave permission to the Fallwell Family to remove the broken stones and place them elsewhere if they wished.

In 1997, Kenneth Lyle Fallwell (1922-1999) obtained permission to move the tombstones of Elisha, Elizabeth, & their infant child to this cemetery. Ken Fallwell not only moved the tombstone fragments, but he also moved some of the dirt from each of the three graves and placed new markers in this new location along with the dirt from each of the graves. At the time of the move, the land where the Moses Falwell family cemetery was located was being used as a horse pasture. Ken Falwell received permission from the current owner to put a fence around the graves. He hired a welder to weld together a steel-pipe fence about 6 feet high completely around the entire grave sites to protect them from being trampled by horses. There is no gate access to the graves, but one can climb through or over the steel-pipe fence to visit the graves.
