Mrs. Catherine Nevils McCalla of Covington passed away on April 2, 2018. She was 96 years old.

Catherine was born on March 20, 1922 to the late Elmer and Kathleen Tenney Nevils.

Catherine loved traveling, ballroom dancing, reading, gardening, and museums of all kinds. She also loved oil painting and did many portraits of friends and family, which she freely gave. The beautiful portraits will be cherished by many for years to come.

She enjoyed her long membership at Covington First United Methodist Church where she taught children's Sunday school in her early years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Mann McCalla II and by her son, John Mann McCalla, III. She is survived by her son, Keith McCalla; her grandsons, John Mann McCalla, IV and James Teasley McCalla; and by her granddaughter, Catherine Joy McCalla; her five great-grandchildren, Lily Catherine McCalla, Isabella James McCalla, Eleanor Olivia McCalla, Ava Elizabeth McCalla, and Catherine Elizabeth McCalla.

The services for Mrs. McCalla will be held on Wednesday, April 4th, at 2PM at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 1-2 prior to the services beginning. Interment will follow in R. H. Munford Cemetery with Rev. Dan Camp officiating.
