Not much information is available about William prior to his marriage to Lanie. According to the official birth record of son Claudius, He was born in Fentress County, Tennessee. He married Lanie Emeline Robbins abt 1893 in and together the two had 4 children (Mary L., Audie May, Maudie Elizabeth & Claudius Landon) As of the 1940 Census both still resided in Pickett County, Tennessee and upon their deaths two years later were buried in Robbinstown Cemetery.

January 30, 1873 - July 26, 1942
Lanie Emeline Robbins was the daughter of John Robbins & Rhoda Adeline Cravens. Born in Fentress County January 30, 1873 she is found in Pickett County by the year 1900. It is possible the families always lived within the boundaries of Pickett as the county did not come into existence until the year 1882. She perished about six months before her husband on July 26, 1942.
