Virginia "Jean" Melton, 84, of Chattanooga, TN died on Friday, April 27, 2012 at a local health center.

She was a member of the Bartlebaugh Baptist Church and had retired from U.S. Stove.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William "Sam" and Lena Duggan Sholtz; one brother, William "Junior " Sholtz; and her granddaughter, Jamie Melton.

She is survived by her children, Wilma Melton, Sandy (Reed) Bacon, and Dwayne (Linda) Melton, all of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Jenny (Eddie) Holloway, Andi Ostovich, Becki (Scott) DeFriese, Jacqui Bacon and Kelly (Eric) Peterson; great grandchildren, Brad and Wes (Ashley) Jetter, Jared DeFriese, Abby Ostovich, Bess Bacon, and Andrew Peterson; three sisters, Ruth Fann, Jo (Corky) Hindman and Katherine Moyers; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. and on Sunday, April 29, 2012 up to the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Ferguson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bartlebaugh Baptist Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Home, Inc., Highway 58 Chapel, Chattanooga, TN.
