Jean's obit:

Jean Penney Gregory, 79, of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Monday, February 9, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was a spiritual person who believed in God’s divine love and forgiveness.  Jean was a very loving and caring person who never met a stranger.  She always had a kind word and thought the best of everyone.

She faithfully attended the weekly bluegrass singing at the Community Center until her health took a turn for the worse.

As she would say herself, Jean loved ‘a little coffee with her cream’ and never failed to call you ‘honey.’  She also was an avid collector of anything depicting strawberries.

She was the daughter of the late Jack and Gertrude Penney and the sister of the late Arnold, Dougle, and Ross Penney.  Also, two sisters preceded her in death - Anita Revels and Jackie Davis.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Jack Gregory, who took such good care of her during this difficult time in their life; two sons, Glenn (Debbie) Walker and Ricky (Lynne) Walker; step-sons, Kevin and David Gregory; sister, Thelma Walker, and her favorite nephew, J.D. Hankins.

Jean leaves behind a great legacy to her nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; as well as a multitude of friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Melvin Walker officiating .  Burial will be at the East Soddy Community Cemetery .

The family would like to thank all the friends who have made the last several months more bearable for Jean through your prayers, phone calls, cards, and food.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.
