Stoker Tate, 25, shot and killed his wife, Frances Tate, 33, at their home today and then turned the .22 caliber rifle on himself and inflicted a fatal wound. Acting Coroner Henry Meyers returned a verdict of murder and suicide. Cause of Tate's action was not determined immediately. He had been a WPA worker in Grundy County, but had not been working lately. Deputies Jim McGovern and Oscar Price, and the coroner investigated. Five children survive the Tates.
