Graeson Blaine (Grae) Viers, 16, of Bluff City, Tenn., died in an automobile accident Saturday, April 15, 2006. Born Sunday, July 23, 1989 in Bristol, Tenn. He was a junior at Bristol Tennessee High School where he was an All-Conference Soccer Player both in regular season and in tournament play; a two-time varsity letter winner. He was also a member of their golf team. Grae was an honor student, member of the Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club and recognized in Who's Who of American High School Students. He was a graduate of the Bristol Youth Leadership Program, won the Regional Science Fair at E.T.S.U., and made a perfect score on the National Latin Exam. He was an avid supporter of Virginia Tech Athletics, worked part-time at Bristol Racquet and Fitness Center. He loved spending time with his family and friends at the lake. Grae was a member of the Bristol Lasers Club Soccer Team and State Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his parents, Vicki Taylor Viers and J. Robert Viers, Jr., Bluff City; a brother, Robert Andrew Viers, of the home; maternal grandmother, Doris Pentecost; and maternal stepgrandfather, Elbert; paternal grandmother, Patricia Viers of Dublin, Va.; special grandmother, Alice Samaniego; two aunts, Donna Wallace and husband, Ron of Bristol, Tenn., Angie Pentecost of Hendersonville, N.C.; two uncles, Steve Pentecost of Bristol, Tenn. and Jeffrey Viers of Dublin, Va.; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Robert Viers, Sr. and William Earl Taylor. On Tuesday evening April 18, 2006, a service in celebration of Grae's life was conducted at State Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reed Shell and the Rev. Sharon Wiley officiating. The family received friends immediately following services at the church. The committal service was Wednesday morning in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery with entombment following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to State Street United Methodist Church Youth Program, 300 West Valley Drive, Bristol, Va. 24201.
